Dye it , part two, other dyes

An update on this new dye...It is for 100% natural fabrics...they also have some for polyester and nylon. It's made by Jacquard...I also added a bit of vinegar. and a touch of ammonia...why...you ask?? I have no idea...It was just suggested by the wool and alpaca dealers, makes it stick to the fibers I guess.
Here is the kool-aid was using before...smells sooo good...you know..I don't think I have ever tasted kool-aid.
And here are other things that work great too...Easter egg dye, cake decorating dye.
But...my favorite so far...the new "i Dye"

i Dye...Love it !!

Don't you just love a product that WORKS!! Look at these new dyes that I found at our Art Department store.
Look what it did in just a few minutes!
Beautiful aqua, perfect for eggs
This is really pink...(bad lighting)
Looks like cotton candy ! lol

Used Vintage Drum Carder

oh yes...the sun was shining today!!! See these crumpled up fibers...
Nice smooth fibers....And my drum carder!!! LOVE IT!!

What a Sunday I had...I spent a good part of Sat. look for a used drum carder...they are very hard to find. A gal from Sisters emailed me and said she just found one for me...then she emailed me and said her sister wanted it...So then I put an ad on Craigslist saying I wanted one...

Half and hour later I got an email from a gal that lives 30 min. from me in Stayton...she sent me a photo...It was old, used, a bit rough...and I loved it!!! It spoke to my heart. She sold it to me for $40. I'm in love with my new old toy from the 70's. She also gave me some fiber...I've been dying PINK fibers. Oh...the things I will be making now!!!
I will take better pictures later...but I had to share these with you right now.

Wool Hand Carders- what they can produce!

My friend sent me the above photo...isn't it great!!!
This is fiber from a beautiful white alpaca...I washed it in warm water...it actually just sits in the water to let the dirt fall to the bottom of the bowl.
These are my new old paddles...I load it with fiber...if anyone knows...am I putting on to much??
Then I gently brush over it with the other paddle
Then I roll it off
Then wa-la....out comes a little baby bunny in a "bed" of cabbage. LOL...you kinda need to use your imagination on the cabbage!! lol...I added slivers of sparkly fibers to the carrot...
He does have a little poof for a tail. I dyed all these fibers...Are you ready to give this a try???
This is on my ETSY for a short time (then I will move it to ebay)

I thought I would check in with you...I'm working on new felted goodies that I will reveal on Pink Saturday. On Wed. I had a fight with a brand new Dell computer that the company I work for, bought for the office...It didn't like Firefox...so we had to go around it....3 1/2 hours later. It gave me such a headache!!!. Then my boss came to do his monthly report...he gave me 100, do you think he knew how bad I needed that?! I woke up at 5 am two mornings in a row...ugh! This morning, I just needed a break...I took off around 11 am and headed to this little town called Newberg...It was such a beautiful drive...We are located in the Willamette Valley. Mountains to the east and to the west...a sprinkling of snow still on them. Blue sky. Daffodils in bloom. I started relaxing...I went to a new Fiber store where the sell Drum Carders and Spinning Wheels. It was fascinating. I came away with a lot of information and a bag of sparkly fibers. Thumbed through new books. It was so enjoyable. Stopped at an Antique Shop and right as I was ready to leave I saw a old pair of wool hand carders...They are really old...but still had all their teeth, so, for $15 I bought them (new ones can run $75 and up) I figured I could sell them if they didn't work...but oh they work beautifully!!! I'll take a photo in the morning to share with you. Have a wonderful evening!

Where did Monday go???

First...this is the BIG birthday present we got Stacey. I got the camera first...at Circuit City when they marked it waaaay down. Then, I was in another city and it was a week before they closed their doors...I had a couple of mins. so I ran into Circuit City. All cameras were gone, there was just one zoom lens left...I couldn't be for a Nikon...It WAS!!! whoo hoo!!! It was marked down 75 percent...I couldnt Not get it. So Stacey is one happy camper...She found this great looking "lunch bag" at Target...I put a bit of foam padding in the bottom...works perfect!
I woke up late this morning ( I rarely sleep in) I'm trying to get the new office computer working, after a while I call in some techies...they got it up and running...then I spent hours and hours trying to down load stuff that they want on the computer...I looked up...it was 4:00...wow, I need to do a little de-stressing tonight...I need to work on another little chickie...

Pink Felting for a Pink Saturday

Yesterday I took out a handful of Alpaca, I let it soak for about a half an hour in hot water...
I then I let it go swimming in a tub of beautiful pink water, it just loves it..
When it is finished getting a pink and rosey, I give it a good squeeze!!!...
I lay it out on a towel in front of the heater to get nice and warm and dry. Then the fun begins
I get out my foam, a felting needle and poke, poke, poke! Oh what fun I had!!
I am putting these all on EBAY for 99 cents each!

Needle Felted oversized CHERRY

Stacey and I had the best time!! Had lunch then to antique shops. She found a Viking Vase that she collects..I'll get a picture soon. Late in the afternoon I went to an Alpaca farm. I talked to the gal for a very long time. I bought some raw Alpaca fibers. She told me how to clean and dye it.So guess what I've been playing with!!! Dying is the most fun!!! Here is what I made today
I dyed the fibers red, and a batch of green. The brown is from a brown Alpaca...how fun is this!!! I flattened a spot on the bottom so It would sit and not roll around. I listed this on Ebay

You wont believe this!...not the bunny...the kitties...lol

Little itty bitty that I just put on Ebay. 2" long...see the little flowers I made for her ribbon..

Don't laugh...I wanted you to see what size it was...so I brought out an egg.lol
Maybe a tea cup is a better idea.
So this time I grabbed the camera!!! I dropped off the groceries by the door. In the bag was their bulk cat food...no big deal...right....WRONG...I also had a bag of Jasmine rice in the same bag.
Rolling around, spreading it EVERYWHERE. I don't know if they actually ate it...HOW would I know???LOL Years ago, my husband would have gotten mad...oh my he has changed...Now we laughed and laughed and he said...Grab your camera...you need to blog about this.LOL. He really cracked me up. So, Dean....this is for you.lol.
Stacey's birthday is coming up on St. Patrick's Day...she'll be 27...what do you get your only child when they turn 27....oh you'll have to wait and see.lol Last year was kinda skimpy in the gift giving dept. thats when I had the lazer surgery to remove a mole by my eye...and I had 4 matching crowns put in...so, now I feel guilty and I'll be making up for last year.lol.
