I'm in LOVE

Just in time for Valentines...LOVE. I made an hour drive to to Pasadena in heavy traffic
to pick up my new love...it was well worth it.

My new love...Derwent INKTENSE watercolor pencils... ohhhhh they are so lovely

I heard this was something else I needed to try...wonderful. light washes worked great

I redrew this gal last night, I wanted to try out my new pencils. I didn't get into major

highlight and shading, just wanted to see how the melt when water was applied. dreammmmy

Have any you tried them, I want to learn more. I saw a youtube about applying them

to fabric...cant wait to try it!!

Face Sketches

The sunset the other evening was sooo beautiful. Can you see the last of the sun through the trees

On to some sketches. I'm one of those people, if I dont know how to do something, I keep trying and trying...faces and bodies, hardest thing for me. I am not good at just making up someone

Yesterday afternoon, I was doing my laundry (we have a community laundry room) and someone left some Marie Claire magazines...I dont buy fashion magazines, so I was thrilled. Just for the record...I didn't trace any of these (maybe I should have.lol)

As I flipped through the pages, I was inspired to give a shot...I wont tell you what cellebraties

are sketched, because the picture doesnt do them justus. I was looking for faces with contrast of lights and darks. I am having so much fun, so glad I was the one to find these magazines

It was fun to try different angles

I think the one below is the best...want to know who she is???

I still have a LONG way to go, but if I keep practicing...

Close to Home

Stacey and I drove about 5 minutes from our home last night t0.look at that sunset

Next to the waterpark Raging Waters is a little lake

It was so beautiful, with the mountains behind

Love all the different colors of the mountains

Hard to believe we live next to such a big city

Flea Market / Thrift Store Finds

I'll start with todays finds...this is a pretty little black vase that has a built in frog

Perfect for my just picked Camillia

For a minute I thought It was snowing...nope just spring blossoms

I found out this is a pear tree

came across this adorable lamp...$4

I got the sheet music on the lampshade, I just need to get some trim to finish it

This little guy was also 55cents... I tore off the flowers

I've been looking for a wreath to cover in these paper roses

I better get busy, It will take a LOT of roses

I've seen quite a few on other blogs and thought it would look nice in my bedrood







Then there was the Sunday Flea Market in Irvine...love it!!

I found these beautiful pieces of lace

I thought I would show you a close up...it is sooo tight and tiny I cant imagine

how long it took someone to crochet this

My Thursday

A crow in the tree at sunset

A little shell birdhouse, its all soldered, the back opens to put in a tea candle
Its very nicely crafted...now its mine, for just a few pennies from the Goodwill

Last night I had a chance to get a little layering done on my canvas

some of the big splottes are crakle medium..

It crackled nicely, but I dont think I'm crazy about it.

A little crafting today

How cute are these paper flowers out of book pages. I plan to add something to the centers
I added some green to the leaves and they curled, which I like.

I purchased this picture and frame for pennies. I used spray kilz on the canvas...I want to do some kind of collage...with a bird on it...I'll show you as I progress.

Lace and Lace

I thought I would share my lace with you...

Here it is with a little coffee added to it

Here is the beautiful lace as I found it

I go to our local Goodwill and look for clothing with texture

and is marked down half price. This had no label, I'm wondering

if it was hand made

I cut a chunk out of it, it dyed beautifully

I will sew it in my book

Then I found this skirt. I loved the lace on the bottom

with coffe, it looks old
