Why do they have to grow up!?

They started out sooooo cute and LITTLE, now they can take these flying leaps. The latest thing they have found to get into is this bookshelf where I kept one area empty to put my little works in progress...well, I cant do that any more...I had to put Natashas sweet little cupcake on the next shelf up...next thing I know he knocked it off!

Now, if you really want to see some beautiful bookshelfs..go here, to Kari and Kijsa's blog

Sweet Pink Chair

I didnt know which photo I liked best. LOL so I'm showing you all three..ummm which one should I use for ebay?? Speaking of Ebay...I thought I put the Silver Sugar Bowl on Ebay...not so! Now it is!!
Hope I remember to put this on! lol. This is the little chair I got at Monticello Antique Mall last week. It is soooo cute.
My bird wasn't the right pink....(I know you are going to be shocked....) so I spritzed it with a couple different Glimmer Mist's...That stuff is GREAT. I normally would work with dyes until I got the right color...but close is now good, I can change the color sooo easy.
Many of you have asked me about Glimmer Mist, it is in the scrapbooking industry, but you can check the website here Tattered Angels.
Thanks again to everyone that reads my blog, and I love the comments...I have dial-up and I cant always leave a message without waiting about a half hour...I thinking its about time to get DSL!

Old Silver Sugar Dish

I wanted to go real old, vintage, shabby. I dyed the wool after I got this put together so I could make the little brown bird the same shade of tan. Look at the beautiful piece of vintage jewlery, its a beautiful pin that I just pinned on, so it could always be taken off and adorn a jacket or sweater. This is found on my Ebay

Metal Rose Wall Hanging

Here is another "found" object. It is all metal. So, I jazzed it up with a bit of pearl paints. I set it down on this little table while I hammered the nail in the wall...I REALLY like it on the table...I'll be selling this on my Ebay

Spring Flowers and Bird

I dont know if you remember this from an earlier post, it was just an unattractive metal piece. I gave it a through washing. I sprayed it with a good metal primer and handpainted the flowers and leaves. It measures about 16" high. Then I had the fun of trying to figure out what color and size of bird would look best. I chose a light green bird then decided this ribbon went great with the pink in the flowers. I haven't varnished the piece yet...it is hard to get a good photograph when the varnish shines. Please leave me feedback so I will know what you think of this, it was so fun and unusual.

Sweet Baby Birdie

I think this birdie turned out soooo sweet. might have a few to many pins in it...but they are just sooo pretty and sparkly. I found the sweetest gold heart and charming white buttons. I sprayed the rayon ribbon with glimmer mist, it looks so antiqued. The spoon is so pretty and delicate. I put in on Ebay this morning. Now this is uncalled for!!! Sleeping on the job! I get up from the chair and they race to see who can get to the warm spot first! They are in trouble again!! I came home today to plug in my dead cell phone...ummmm, they chewed on the cord...so now I have to hold it juuuussst right to make it charge, dont sneeze or it will go off! lol.

Painted my computer!

I dont know what happened to my photos, and I dont know how to fix it...I am just uploading them again.

Montacello Antique Shopping

We had A DAY of sunshine this past weekend, so Stacey and I took off and went to a couple new places. We went to the Montacello Antique mall in Portland...wow, so many goodies!! I love getting good deals at thrift shops, but boy! when you go to an antique mall that is chock full of loveliness...what a is a girl to do!?! I had to buy a few little treasures. I've been wanting to make a pin cushion on top of a lid of a neat jar...I found one!! Look at this chair...ooooh, I love it...I could almost keep it! I love the cream vintage flowers...a little spritz of glimmer mist and they will have a lovely color!! Love the old shovel, not sure how to handle that one yet..oh yes, another lovely spoon!!

I changed my banner!! Its been a year...I think it was time...I will be changing it a little more often now that I have this fun new program!!

Computer Re-Do

I started this project by spraying the top of the computer (laptop) with Primer, then I wadded up a paper towel and dabbed on Pearl paint. I then spritzed on my favorite Glimmer Mist...using about 5 colors...ooooh the shimmer!!
I wish it showed up better...then I painted
and painted
Then spritzzed some more glimmer mist, gold and pearl, You can kinda see it in the upper left hand corner
So now I have to figure out what to do in the center. It has to be something flat, I would love some thoughts on that...It has to be something that my kitties wont want to bite off. LOL
*****************************************************
My hubby came home from work...I asked him how he liked the computer.....he laughed!! Said it wasn't very "professional looking".....I laughed... and agreed...it will be interesting to hear what my boss says about it.... Its MY computer... I'll let you know what he says. It will be a week or so. Stacey hasn't been over to see it yet, and I didnt tell her I did it!

Such good Kiities

Here are my sweeties, lounging on my now empty cabinet top.

I have a new program I've been playing with...taking WAY to much time!! But OH so much FUN.

Oh yes...they have been at it again...I found out what the problem is...my hubby looks for baggies in the bottom drawer and doesnt shut it all the way. So, again, I heard a plastic bag rattling around...I had to just stand there and watch (after I ran to get the camera) "Dirty" sticks his paw in the 2" opening and rips open the bag of pasta...a different kind (I'm sure they taste different LOL) and one by one scoops it out with his paw...then "'Whitie" had to come check it out...taking turns they would pull out the pasta tubes...whoever wasnt in the drawer...was busy EATING the pasta. What kind of kitties to I own????
I really have been working on new birdies...the bigger the kitties get,the harder it is to sew!!!!

I was laughing and a touch upset...then I realized... THEY WERE HELPING ME!! Yes, They thought I wanted pasta for dinner and they were getting it out for...Such good kitties. LOL

and the top photo...they were tired after all their hard work!

Life with my 4 kids

This is what I woke up to this morning!! I couldnt figure out how the kitties get my birdies, I keep the ones Im working on under lock and key! The ones I have made I put on this shelf...that is where this one was...so when I came into the office this morning I found Whitie up on top of the bookcase...he scoots down and can land inside this shelf!!!! I WATCHED him!! but of course I had to get my camera ready...and he was inside before I could get a photo! Well, the LOVE pins!So they scoot the pin box off the desk until if falls off, and opens!! Looks a little bare on top! Yup, they have knocked everything down!
Look at the tail on this little one!!

Yesterday I had no time to myself...Stacey had to have help posting notices on all the doors at all of her complexes, then Laundry, then I helped her fix her dinner (she cant open a can or bottle), then there is my hubby, he was like a little boy starting his first day of school. He started his new job this morning and had to take a lunch...he hasnt had to take a lunch for years!! He had to make sure his clothes were laid out...it was pretty funny, I'm thinking "how old are you???" But, its nice and quiet around here this morning. aaaaaah. nice cup a Jo and a little time on the computer, what a nice way to start my day....after picking up after the kitties!! LOL. I feel like I have 4 kids...stacey, hubby and the 2 crazy kitties.

I'll be putting on another birdie in the morning!!
****Update on Stacey**** Thank you for all your concern over Staceys walfare! She ended up borrowing a hard sling so she would stop hitting her elbow...Shes up and about, she asked me to do her dishes and the dumping of the kitty litter...ummmm, you dont think shes faking it do you. LOL.

Not sure what to title this post....

I debated whether I should write about this, so I asked my daughter, Stacey if it was ok, so with her permission....here it goes...I will start at the begining..

When Stacey was in the 1st grade, we bought her roller skates, we went to the great town of Temecula, Ca and let her wear her skates...she immediately skated into a cactus...OUCH, that was bad!! She gave up rollerskating,

The next year we gave her rollerblades...its ok I said, she's a great iceskater...we took her to a park that had a sloping paved path and said...Have fun!!...oops, we forgot to show her how to stop...well, quite frankly, we didnt think about it, we've never put on a pair of rollerblades!! So, she screamed and flew off the path and landed on her head...bad headache!!! She never rollerbladed again.

Well, every child needs to ride a bike!! (are you seeing a pattern here??) She did all right, until....she slammed into the back of a parked car...OUCH!! That didnt stop US, until ,one day we went bike riding down a steep hill, at the bottom we needed to make a right turn, I was ahead of her and I ran over some broken branches! What do I do???I know shes going to hit those!!! She did!!! and down she went...ummmm...not good, skinned herself up pretty bad,(she was in shorts) we were quite aways from home and it was up hill all the way.She was MAD and hurt, she rode that bike like nothing I have have ever seen...she beat me home, I had to walk the bike up the hill!! We got home and she had split the skin on her knee to the bone...NOT GOOD! She wouldnt ride a bike again!!!

Now, she even had trouble running, she fell on the concret and busted her elbow open, it wasnt bleeding, so no big deal...until I went to patch her up and realize the white I was looking at was her bone, I almost fainted on that one. (she did go back right back out and skinned up the other elboe)

We would spend our summers in Oregon...we each had little mini bike, yep...we were at the end of the driveway and she stopped to quick and skid and burnt her leg on the muffler sooooo bad.

(Are you still with me??) With all these accidents she has never broken a bone! Well, when she turned 21 she tripped UP a curb and skinned her knee and sprained her ankle..

Stacey is now going to be 26 next mo. She is my best friend and I love her to pieces.....Last night....I get the dreaded phone call at 1:00am...Mom...can you come and get me....I said "what's wrong" she said, crying " I fell down two flights of steps" I'm sorry, but,my first reaction is to laugh...I got over that quickly, I went to pick her up, she was hurt pretty bad...huge knot on her head, elbow soooo swollen, wrist bloody...but no broken bones!! I spent the night with her to make sure she was alright, today...she could hardly move...do they EVER learn???

After reading this to her...she said..."makes me sound like a nut case" at least she laughed!

Just to finish on a good note...she is great at softball, soccer and fantastic at volleyball...shes not afraid of balls!!

Treasure Hunting Friday

I found this cup in my cabinet and thought it would be perfect for putting a pincushion in it. I added a few beautiful glass and shell buttons. A couple of little vintage velvet flowers. I glittered the pin tops and a piece of jewlery. I just put this on my Ebay

I did just a bit of treasure hunting today...what fun I had!! Look at these adorable salt and pepper shaker, they have glass inserts that screw off the bottom.
And this silver cup holder with little roses all around it...I think it might just be perfect for a pincushion. What do you think??
Then I came across a pair of black flower earrings...Look at the size!! They are huge, I would have loved to see the lady that wore these! lol. Then I found a vintage screw-on pair with a beautiful pearl in the center...they are soooo heavy. I am going to hang it from a vintage bottle as seen on this beautiful site... http://junk2jewels.typepad.com/
Then I just HAD to buy this sweet table...It was $10...I have the perfect place for it...I love the detail. It is authintically old. The trim is robins egg blue
Well, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I didn't realize that I haven't blogged since Monday...where did the week go?? I didn't even get a pincushion made...I do have a few in the works, I'm working on a teacup and another spoon, so stay tuned!!

Vintage Vase

There is a great give a way over here for a wonderful new book...go check it out!

I have been working on ideas for this vase...I came across a really old corsage...so I ripped it apart and used the Tulle and leaves...and again, I spritzed the flowers with Bubblegum Glimmer Mist. I even added the corsage pin...How cute did this turn out??? I'll put it on my ebay tomorrow.
The little cluster of little flowers are vintage and a little washed out...humm.spritz spritz!! Then a Magenta Bird to top it all off!

Glimmer Mist Flowers

Here is my latest creation. This is one of those ugly gold things that painted white. This photo is the back side I found this little heart when I was going through the buttons. It was red, so I sprayed it with pink Glimmer Mist it gave it a beautiful shimmer. The flowers weren't the right color....so I sprayed them with glimmer Mist, I put glue in the centers and added German Glass Glitter, also a touch on the petals.

I glittered the pin tops. I found some great vintage buttons that I added
I used a lighter colored Glimmer Mist or the daisy. The candles are Cranberry Tea Candles that are in their own little cup. I painted the base a pale pink and painted a rose and buds, on both sides. This will be on my Ebay

WoW! What a response to my buttons!...here's what I think I'll do, I have bagged up a LOT of bags, I have a few more to go...so, If you email me with your address...I will send them out until I run out, lm.sm@juno.com... say "Buttons".Stacey and I went to a Home store...we came across this table...we laughed and said...WHAT A CONTAINER FOR A BIRD!!!...so I whipped out my camera...what do you think??!! A bit big??? lol

One quick trip to a Goodwill, found 2 of these vintage cuties! I'm sure I can get a birdie to fit in it somehow!! LOl... I look forward to hearing from everyone...give me a few days to get the buttons in the mail to you.
