I have a question...I love my Google Reader...now that they are doing away with it what are we suppose to do? Art Work

 I'm working on a fabric book. The page was covered with plaster and gesso...Look how
different they look in different lighting...the one on the left is the correct color

 On facebook I have been starting to show some of my watercolors that I did a few years back

Some of you who have been following me for years will probably remember them

Large Pear

 This was so much fun. its large. 18 x 24. I thought I would show you the process

 black gesso

 I decided to try my hand using my large palette knife with acrylics...new to me..

 Started laying in colors

 I wanted some of the background black to show around the edge

It only took a couple of hours (with interuptions)

Heres why I did it,

I have a wonderful boss who lets me paint these

large paintings to hang over the electrical panels

in Apartments that we are trying to rent

(I'm an apt. manager)

I just put in 25, I got tired of looking for them in "my Pictures" I should have had them in one folder...but I didn't...this was great fun. Acrylic, Mixed Media, oil painting, oil painting with a palette knife...so much fun

 Here is my latest picture...I took the one that is above...and painted over it with oil paints and a palette knife. I'm bound and determined to learn how to use a palette knife. practice practice practice

After taking this picture, I did a little tweeking of the pitcher top...I like how this picture shows all the texture.

Day 23

30 Paintings in 30 days

 I really have been doing my paintings, I just havent had a chance to get them here on my blog...I have been posting on my Facebook...This top one is 300lb watercolor paper, 3 coats of gesso, I put it on a clipboard to paint it...nice and thick palette knife  5x5

 more work with the palette knife...I wont get any better if I dont keep practicing!

I love how this one turned out, I had painted it in acrylics, didn't really like it, so I completely went over it with oils and a palette knife...I like having the design already on the board.  ummm not sure how the double pictures showed up...

Oil Palette Knife Paintings

 My 30 paintings in 30 days is still on-going...I took a 3 day workshop from Leslie Seate on palette knife painting.  The first day was so hard for me...I didn't know how to move the knife, it was uncomfortable to use.  By the afternoon of the last day...I was whipping out paintings...it was awesome.
The sky looks really grey in these paintings but its blue...I need to photoshop the pictures to get the truer colors... I finished 6 paintings in 3 days...so much fun. The only thing bad was traffic...what should take 25 min took 1 1/2 hours.

 Here is todays painting...day 12. A little watercolor I won this beautifully made watercolor book from Martha Lever...it was a delight to paint in it.

 I thought I was ready to put my winter decor away...but when its been getting down to 27 at night, here in So. California...and there is a lot of snow on the mountains...I'll have to keep winter around for awhile longer.

These are not my designs...I painted them  years ago, I use to paint on antiques a lot when we lived in Oregon..the price of antiques down here is ridiculous. Hope you enjoyed my post today...

A Daisy for day 11

I spent all day yesterday thinking it was Fri. 11th...oops, Here is the true day 11th painting.

Day 11...Pink Rose

Pink Rose in my art journal...Day 11...painted with a #4 flat brush...used painted bubble wrap for texture on the background
Had a little excitement this morning..I'm an apartment manager (the nice kind,lol) we've been having a young homeless guy sleeping in our laundry room...had to call the police to come scare him away, next time we will have to press charges...ugh.  Come back tomorrow to see what my painting will be...

This was fun,  a little mixed media...mostly watercolor then I used white paint on a stencil. for the background..Day 10...I'm on a roll and not even stressing out about getting a painting done a day...
wow, I cant believe I just said that.lol
