Watercolor Batik

 I started out sketching on my pattern with a permanent pen, then a light wash

 I then sprinkled on hot was with a brush

 More watercolors to darken

 coated the whole painting with hot wax

 heres a close up. I put it in the freezer for a few minutes 

 Then I wadded it up in a ball

 unfold

 add heavy watercolor, working it into the cracks 

When it was dry I put it between paper towels and papers until the was is melted off with an iron

To get myself back in the habit of posting on my blog, I'll be posting some of my paintings. This is from Morro Bay where we took a little vacation this past summer. Art Play Date

So much has happened since my last posting. The biggest is that I jumped into the world of APPLE.
I now have my first IMAC. and I love it. I've been taking classes. I plant to start posting here more often.  I've been busy teaching online classes at Creative Workshop. I've been asked to be a part of ART PLAY DATE too!  I'm giving a 4 watercolor cards to 4 winners if you use my link to sign up. Its $99 but it comes to a little over $3.00 for each class.

For 26 weeks you will be able to explore a variety of mediums and styles. This year we will explore acrylics, watercolor, colored pencil and some mixed media. Get inspired by 25 of the industries finest designers. And have the pleasure of this experience in the privacy of your home. Where else can you discover the art of 25 teachers all at once, at any time you like?

How does it work? 

Every Monday, May-October, for 26 weeks you will receive an email letting you know about the teacher and the lesson prompt. You can then watch the pre-recorded videos and download the coordinating PDF at your leisure. It's that simple.You will have class access until March 1, 2016.

Time has been flying by and I realized my Mixed Media Workshop starts tomorrow. This project takes you from the start to finish. I have given similar gifts to friends as cards or on cardboard to use in their holiday decor, it can also be nice framed. I used optional Fiber Paste for the leaf and stem. I have a class going on over at creative workshop, it's pretty summery, here's a fall version

Scribble pumpkin

I had so much fun figuring out to do this. I very lightly sketched the pumpkin and stem with a pencil.

I then started with .005 micron. Painted with water colors, I wanted a heavier pen work, I used a broad signo pen, then a fine signo
