You wont believe this!!!!

REALLY....you wont believe this...so my husband came home to take me up to the hospital to have my stitches remove. No problem right...WRONG! They had me lay back on the gurney. He pulled the light over to start working on me...the top four stitches...came out fine...the bottom four stitches were embedded in my lip...not good...it hurt so bad I had a tear squeeze out. Done, yea...BOOM...WHAT??!! The guy says, are you ok??!!! As he was pushing the light away, which is on a track in the ceiling...it fell on my face...(are you laughing or crying for me right now??) I had my eyes closed so I didn't see it coming...this 50# light fixture came crashing down on my cheek bone, my temple, my nose, my hand, thankfully it missed my lip.!!! So I sat up and wow, I was in a world of hurt!! I asked for an ice pack, which they were happy to give me...then it started...yep, the tears, I was hurt, I was in shock, I had been sick all day about getting the stitches out...I couldn't stop, then the hospital staff started coming in to see what happen...a stream of people. They took photos, everyone was quite horrified! Well, I'm home, I have my ice pack, I took a Vicadian and I'm going to go rest...really...can you believe this!!!! lol

  1. Oh, Laurie! That is HORRIBLE! That hospital needs to pay for whatever damage that was caused by that light falling on your face! Bless your heart! You have had a terrible week, friend! I hope nothing else bad happens to you!

  6. Just linked to your blog from another...What beautiful art you make. It' a lovely blog.
What an awful thing to have happen to you!! As a retired R.N. all I can say is...didn't they do more than give you ice? Did they do any facial x-rays or anything else? They need to be responsible for paying for any further checks you have done following this horrible incident that occured due to malfunctioning equipment.
I do hope that all goes better for you!!!

  10. That is just AWFUL! I would think that whatever you need to have done and whatever medicine(s) you need or will need, will be paid in full by them. But more than THAT, I hope that when you awake tomorrow morning that you aren't hurting more than you are NOW!

My heart goes out to you :( And I will be thinking good thoughts on a speedy recovery! :)

  13. OK, now you need to get out from under that dark co=loud! I mean it..it's hard to think "these tings happen for a reason"..well, maybe to wear a helmet for the next few weeks to see if you can shake that cloud away! I am soo sorry for all of this - you've had your share for quite a while..like forEVER!

(sounds to me like you could now OWN that silly hospital..find a lawyer!)

  14. Take good care and yes - I can believe it. And - expect follow-up calls from the old hospital staff! Had an experience myself about 12 years ago. You really get attention when they make a boo-boo! My wishes for a speedy recovery. Hugs, M.

  15. Oh, Laurie, do you want to come down here in the sunshine for a good rest? I would love to smother you with TLC!

I agree with a couple of other comments...wear a helmet and lock your doors...don't answer the phone...just veg for a few days. Well, okay, answer the phone if it's the hospital's lawyer calling...hopefully, with a big offer to settle!! Thinking good thoughts and saying prayers for your recovery. Love ya.

  16. OH. MY. WORD!

I just cannot believe it girl!!

I think you better just stay home and do your art. =0)

Get healed up quick, and just have your husband take out stitches or whatever.

    Blessings,

  17. Almost too hard to believe! I hope the hospital is going to take care of your expenses and reimburse you for your pain and suffering! How could they be so careless to not maintain a light that could fall on a patient? Hard to understand. Take care of yourself and get well. Maybe you should stay away from hospitals!

  19. OH-MY-GOSH!!! Laurie, I cannot imagine how you are feeling now, both physically and emotionally and that you're probably angry too! This should definitely NOT happen to a patient, let alone one who is injured!
No broken bones I hope! But you're sure to be green and blue and black for a couple of weeks!!!!
    Aw, hugs, honey!

  21. What? What?!?!?!? I go away for a bit and you become a gravity-magnet?

    What in the world?!?!?!?

Mend. Be tender with yourself. Let me know if we need to find you a safety helmet for the next few weeks.
