Yesterday I was packing up all my goodies for class. I wanted to have my sewing machine all ready to go...I got ready to put in the bobbin...aaaack, my bobbin case was missing...I KNEW my kitties probably knocked it off, so I spent an hour looking everywhere...under the sofa (nope, it was a cork) in the corners, anyway, I panicked, called my sewing center...$33 for a new one...thats all I need...another batch of money going out the door. I decided I may as well go and get it...I had to have it....so I ran out the door, got in the store before they closed...Told the lady what I needed...she brought it out and showed it to me...I said "Thats not what it looks like" so she looked up my account on the computer and said...you're right and she wen to the back room, came out with another one...that looked the same...I'm like "sorry, but that isn't what it looks like" the phone rang, while she was talking...I kept looking at the piece...when she came back, I asked her how that piece would get out of the machine...there is a little screw holding it in,
WHAT?? I didn't unscrew anything...then I had a little bit of "moment"......I uh, (cough, cough) wonder if there is nothing missing but the bobbin.
So, she was nice, said to go home and check it....but come and look at our VERY lovely, expensive machine, which she showed me how nice it sewed.
When I got home I looked at my machine...jeeeez, I just never see it without a bobbin. I popped a bobbin in..and it worked. I had taken the thread off and the bobbin out , and the feet down,to practice free form stitching.
My way of thinking....now I have a free $33 to spend at vendors night!!

So glad you figured out it wasn't missing - if it had been me I would have bought and there would have been a no refund policy and not figured it out until I was back home!!!! lol
ReplyDeleteYour muslin picture is gorgeous!!!!
Close call!! :) Doesn't it drive you nuts when you things like this? I do it all the time and have such a sense of "victory" when I realize my error!! And $33 to spend at vendor night? Bonus!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your painting on muslin...can't wait to see what you create from this next adventure!
Ha ha ha! The reason I'm laughing is that sounds like something I would do! I'm glad it ended up being something that you didn't HAVE to spend more money on when you're on your way to spend money on funner things!
ReplyDeleteHave fun! :)

I like your way of thinking, $33.00 for the vendors. LOL
ReplyDeleteWhy is it that I find myself relating to this story. I like the way you decided about the $ 33.00 you can spend tonignt. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the finished muslin picture. I know it will be beautiful!!
Hello Laurie, Isn't great to have that extra money to spend!! VBG I see I have missed several of your lovely posts. I so admire your lovely watercolor charms. Your soldering is very nice. Of course I love looking at your Oregon Pics. Oregon is such a beautiful state.
ReplyDeleteTake care Hugs Judy
Laurie I tried to email you in regards to your question and the email address came back saying you were not their customer...weird. Anyway I'll try this way...I use Incredimail and I'm not sure what you use but I have an Insert Picture option on my tool bar which allows the pic to be put into the actual email and not as an attachment. Hope this helps.
ReplyDeleteI never sew - well, not until recently..and in Home Ec in high school..but a few years ago, I bought a machine..for, you know..when I needed one. Well, finally needed one and couldn't find the cord..the one with the foot-pedal-thingy attached? yeah..like I'm not going to sew now. Called around -finally a nice old-sewing machine mad gave me a used one that would work...another year..then one day..I FOUND the first! Duh..
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your fun trip..enjoy the extra $33 (and you're like me..you can totally justify spending it now..even though you may not have thought about another $33 to spend before!)
Oh....I LOVE the painting!
ReplyDeleteOh Laurie that is such a funny story. Lucky that you found it out before you bought the new one
