First Calif. Flea Market

We found out there was this little Antique Street Faire Flea Market in Pomona, so Stacey and took off to check it out Sat. morning

Love this vintage bike

My big purchases. These little tiny frames...cant wait to repaint them

Posted by PicasaI broke one of my test tubes so I found a replacement, I'll show you what it goes on, next post. Love this metal piece. I got all my goodies for $6
************
Let me take a moment and tell you about my day.
We woke up early to get to the Flea Market.
When we arrived back home Stacey got a phone call. She has a special ring tone
for important calls...like places she has contacedt for jobs..
she got a call...on Saturday..they asked her if she wanted to come in for
an interview...On Saturday?! She said ok...I decided I wanted to go with her...guess where the job is...Hollywood. I figured if this was another 1 minute interview, we could bum around Hollywood for awhile.
Off we went...EVERY freeway we got on there was an accident. It took us 2 hours to get across the city, should have taken 45 minutes.Glad we left early. The plan was to get
a bite to eat...by the time we got there, there wasn't time. We found the Apartment Complex, it is two blocks away from the Kodak Theater and Grumman's, the heart of Hollywood. WOW ! So, I waited in the car, I forgot my cell phone, so I didn't leave. It was getting to be about 95...so hot, I went and stood in the shade...and hour later she comes out.
pretty much with the job. But, she had to go meet the owner...which was in Ventura...so we got on the freeway again...with another accident and drove and drove. We went to his house, which is unusual. He told her he wanted to call her references and pretty much, she has the job. wow. We will know for sure on Tuesday.
She got a little teary when she told me "no cats" These cats have been her
babies for 4 years. We love them to pieces and dont mind a bit having them, but
I know its going to hurt her dearly to leave them.
The plan is to work for this co. for 6 mo to a year, and then look for another job
where she can have cats. As you know, its easier to get a job, when you have a job.
It was hitting 4:30 and we still had not eaten a thing, so we called my husband, he drove to Glendale and met us at his favorite restaurant. Then it was time to rush home
to watch the Lakers win the game...whoohoo...
What a day
We laugh about the contrast from the $430 apartment in Salem, to the $1350 apartment
in Hollywood.

Day at the Beach

We went to a few California Beaches today. We started out at Huntington. Had a wonderful lunch of Fish Tacos, I love them, at Longboards. While sitting there a couple of gals walked by (we were eating outdoors) with rolling carts giving out Snapple's. As she approached us, I asked her
if I could have a Snapple, she said she couldn't give me one as I was "in" a restaurant. I smiled at her, got up as quickly as I could, ran around to the street where she was waiting...She asked if I wanted Holly's drink or Bretts...What??!! She had the drinks that were produced on the Aprentice...how cool is that...she gave us one of each. It really is very good.

Then we mosied down to Seal Beach where we got these stunning photos

Stacey took this photo of this surfer, neat huh.

oops, got this in there twice.
Again, we had a wonderful relaxing day.
Sunshine sure makes us feel good!!

Pink Saturday

I was going through my pictures on my other computer and thought I would re-share
these with you. Look what can be done with a new empty paint can from Home Depot

Love the color of these blue flower containers that were in front of a store

Not quite pink...but yummy strawberries

Love this vintage pink cup

*************
I have a question, I need a new photo printer. I don't want to
pay top dollar. I really don't need it for anything other then photos
Any ideas? I read that Epson is great, but the price for the ink is outrageous
I heard there is a nice HP, but they cheat you on ink because you cant see how much is in the container, I heard Canon makes a good one and the price of ink isn't to bad.
I would like to be able to use Costo Photo paper
I would like to stay around $100 or less.
Let me know what you have, if you like it

A little glass

Stacey went for an interview in Beverly Hills...there were only 6 people. The gal that was giving the interview was Asian, Stacey had to wait while she interviewed a younger Asian girl for 10 min. when it was Staceys turn...it lasted one min. Whats up with that.
While she was out and about she stopped in at CB2 and picked up this sweet little glass vase. you have to cut the stems really short, but how cute is it.

Then at Home Goods I picked up the leaf bowl with birds. I will be priming it and giving it a paint job. I've been wanting to get back in to crafting...I think this will do the trick.

Computer Desk

This desk also belonged to my grandmother, I can remember her sitting here to write out her checks. I have been wanting to paint it, just need to make the time.
The weird folding door behind this opens to the office, I wont be using it. I would like to find some kind of screen to cover it up.
I went blog surfing today. It actually made me a little sad. In order for us to make this move
to So. Calif, I had to "give" my antiques away at a garage sell. I feel a little naked, my house is now extremely clean and uncluttered. I like the cleanliness, but I feel like a little of ME is missing. I am taking my time to hang my picutes, I want to paint a big canvas with a pear to put in our dining room.
I am going to go watch the Laker game. I'll have another photo tomorrow.

This Week

This week, I plan to start showing you around our new apartment. But first, I wanted to show you what I found by the dumpster..I love this chair on the left, it is so sturdy. I plan to paint it and put on a nice soft cushion. Ant then I think I invision a nest and roses painted on the back. The chair on the right is just right for outdoors, a little shabby chic Pood likes his new home. This desk was my grandmothers. Right before we left I gave it
a coat of black paint. I added a few old bottles, camera, book and a dish of old buttons.
The coffee table is something I painted years ago, I need to glaze over the pink roses with a touch of red to go with the carpet.
Hope you enjoyed a sneek peek.

Los Angeles National Forest

When I was young and moved to California, being from Oregon, I laughed when I saw the
sign that said LA National Forest...What forest...I was use to large trees, a forest so thick you
couldnt see very far.

There is a road just 2 blocks away that takes you up to the mountains. Yesterday morning
my husband and I got up early and took a drive up there. Now, I appreciate the beauty that I saw. The above pictures is a beautiful stream way way down

We took a moment here and there to get out of the car and gaze. Its not Oregon, but it is wonderful to find a treasure so close to where we live. We found a place to go fix some breakfast one morning, we are looking forward to that

And then there are the sweet kitties. Cracked me up. This is what I found when I woke up this morning. They wouldn't even get up and say hi...nope, they were loving the sunshine!!
