Pink Saturday and a Giveaway!!

See this little bag...it didn't look like this when Beth at Gathering Dust sent it to me. It was just plain as could be. Well, I spritzed it with a few colors of Glimmer Mist. When it was dry I painted this nest, using metallic paints. I'm going to give this bag away for my "just because" GIVEAWAY!!! Not only am I going to give the bag away...I'm going to put a couple of goodies in it! That part will be a surprise!! So, leave me a message on this post...if you post my giveaway on your blog I'll enter your name twice.
Now on to "PINK" This cup pincushion is on my ebay listing.
This sweet sugar bowl will hold a pincushion real soon, I just purchased it
I made this 3" square "Charm", to go on a tree, or a package, or a wall hanging. I painted both sides. I used 300 lb. hot press watercolor paper. I added it to my ebay.

this plaque is something I painted YEARS ago. It's in oils, I didn't have a clue what I was doing.lol. I don't keep to many things that I paint, this is one of the few.

Ugly Duckling

I didn't take a before photo...but I think you all know what the cheap orange pumpkins from Micheals look like...so I when they went on sale I bought one. The one above is before the crackling
Last time I went into Pottery Barn they had beautiful pumpkins that cost a fortune, but I just loved them...they were ceramic, but were this creamy white with a crackle underglaze. I didn't think about trying to mimic that look until I got into playing with my paints
Heres how I did it. I sprayed white primer, let dry, brushed on spice tan. I notice that there was a lot of texture already on the surface, so I scrubbed on the 2 metallic paints then wiped it off the surface. I really like it, should have left it, but then I really was on the goal of have more white. So I wiped white on it... it was really dull, I didn't like it at all. So I sponged on white to make it more textury (is that a word?) Then I added the 2 step crackle med. When it was dry I rubbed in the metallic paints again, then wiped it off. It ended up looking just like the ones that I saw at Pottery Barn, but only $2 pluss supplies that I already had. Now I'm going to give it a coat of varnish to give it the shine of ceramic. Now I want to go buy a couple more...hope I can remember how I did it...oh yes, I guess I can read my own blog.lol.
It's not a pretty sight, but this is what I used.

A Wonderful Day!!

Anthropoligy

Today was my "day off" not sure what "day off " really means in my line of work, there really is no such thing, but after "working" for a couple of hours...it was time to start my "day off". So here is how it went, I had to go to Portland to pick up my pay check, so we made a day of it. My DH and daughter and myself...we stopped off to have breakfast at Panera...LOVE this place!! Then up to the middle of Portland...there is no parking, so I jumped out, and ran in as they drove around the block
This was on a store window...isn't it just the cutest!
Stacey was driving and spotted this cupcake store...we found a parking spot!!! yea!!

Yes, we each bought one!
Are you wondering what I'm working on??? Well, Somerset is having a challenge using a tin can. I had a kit for making paint turn rusty and one for giving it a patina...I wanted to see what would happen when I used both...I love it, I really have no idea what to do with it now.lol
On the drive up and back...I got a lot done. I turned and stuffed 15 little birdies!
I spent last evening adding foil and soldering a bunch of bottles, I found out that if there are little chips on the lip...just tape them up and solder.lol. But the best thing...It's suppose to look rustic!! Yes, finally, I have found something that doesnt need the smooth professional looking solder!! lol

This cup is so neat...this was at Anthropology too, then my battery died.
So, we had a wonderful day, and this cupcake will finish it off just fine!

Vintage Dressed up Bottle

Oh what fun I had with this bottle. I never know what direction something will take. I love the way this turned out. I started out by adding different size foil tape, then I soldered, aged, then sanded. I made a little charm just for this, I attached it with wire, but it can be removed

I made a wire nest. adding pink eggs, it really looks nice with the hint of lavender that is in the jar
I added Glimmer Mist to the tag then painted a nest with watercolor

If you dont want to put the nest on top...turn the bottle into a vase and lay the nest next to it. I'm putting this on Etsy...

I'm working on these tags, they have a ways to go
This is a project I'm working on right now. I found two pieces of thick glass about 4" square, This is what i painted on one side. I put real glitter on the pin tops and a snippet of lace.
This is what I painted on the other side...I'm about ready to solder it together.

Childs Rolling Pin

How cute is this rolling pin!! It is a child size. The color on the handles is still new looking. I just listed this on my Ebay...I have a set of the dish cloths. Hopefully I can get pictures taken tomorrow, they are wonderful.
Have you had one of those "Giggle Good Times" Going through our garage we came across our OLD camcorder...so we brought it to the tv and plugged it in...it still worked!! Watching old videos ...oh the laughter! We laughed so hard our sides ached...now that was a good time, The sad part was seeing our home in Pasadena. sometimes we wish we still lived in So. Calif.

Rustic Charms

I am getting them done. I left my soldering iron on and the silver tip disappeared, so I made a trip to Radio Shack and got a little container of re-tinning...so I'm back in business
I better get busy...my glass cutter works soooo well! but the ruler with the non skid back is the key to not letting the glass move
These are meant to be rustic (thats what I'm telling myself...lol)
This is the back side...I'll put this on Etsy. I'm thinking of taking the boards off etsy, reworking them and putting them on Ebay...I do so much better on Ebay
