My First Painting for 2013

Welcome to the New Year!! The first of my 30 Paintings in 30 days. Hope I can keep up. This is a new style for me...I've always been interested in this style of painting...starting with a black background, and leaving a bit of black...After seeing" 52 Canvases in my 40th year blog," I gave it a shot...it was fun, not sure I will do it again but we'll see.

The Month of January

I signed up to do a painting a day for all of January. I have my painting area all cleaned up and ready to go. I made a list of possible painting subjects...If you would like to join..http://lesliesaeta.blogspot.com/. I am taking a 3 day workshop with Leslie in January...that will help in making sure I get my paintings done.lol

Progression of an Art Journal Page

I started with a drawing on regular paper, I mod podged it on and used acrylics, pens, neo color crayons. I was fun to do something so different.

I had a few days off...so into my art studio (which is just a corner of my bedroom) I started cleaning and organizing...trying to get acrylic paints in one area, oil paints in another, colored pencils, neo crayons, paper goods, sewing goodies. We have a long closet, so one bookcase is mine for crafts. The cleaning didn't last long, As soon as I could see my desk top...I started working on the cover of my art journal that I have been working in for months. Its an old 1940's book and falling apart. lots of mod podge to hold it together.
Now I'm ready for the new year, taking new classes, lots of learning ahead!

Quick Gift

Ack...I had one hour to whip something up...I had this piece of 2x4 primed...I cant say its my best work...but I only had an hour. whew, finished it off with spray glitter. Nest on one side, snowman on the other.

I have been having so much fun in my mixed media art journal book. I made it from an old 1945 book.
I would have never thought of using yellow for a background until I saw what Junelle Jacobson did in the class I'm taking from her. Such fun.

Sometimes I can get carried away and do to much...I added pen line work and the words...I should have just left it alone. This is what personal art journals are for...to learn, practice, try new things. I love this art journal I am working in..this was on a gesso'd page, I didn't like how the watercolors didn't flow, so I used acrylics.

Last night our power kept going on and off, so I sat in front of the fire and did this sketch of a little garage at Venice Beach. I used the Neo II crayons and water, they work great on gesso

A Gift and More Artwork

 I won this beautiful watercolor journal which is hand made by Lori, over at Elvie Studio, she is having a class on how to make her beautiful binding. The watercolor and lettering is just exquisite! See the darling tag she made just for me, that say Charming Designs, I will treasure this!  Thank you Lori!

I started gathering some of my artwork, I reworked some of these, adding extra embellishment and inking, My spoon ornaments need a little tweeking... As I add them to Etsy, I'll be showing them.

Wild and Crazy Creative Mess

I took the class project of "whats in my head" to the next level.lol... I added Rock Candy Stickles to the brush handles, my colored eggs in the nest and the center of the daisy. I added punched out flowers. When finished I sprayed it with glitter...is this not what is in my head!! A Creative Mess. I had such a good time and a good laugh at myself!

If you have never taken an online workshop...you should consider Junelle's delightful class, this is my interpretation of my house, filled with ART. Tubes of paint, brushes everywhere, new palette knives, sketch pencil...all done out of paper, the tubes of paint for the roof are crumpled and bent, hard to see. Lots of texture. Mod Podge...my best friend

Pair of Lemons

This is paper that has been coated with modeling paste, when it was completely dry I tried to watercolor on top, it kinda of beaded up, but when it was dry it was kinda neat looking, then I got out my oil pastels and gave it some depth. It was fun to try something new

Friday Painting

Well, I took my oil painting class. I didn't get to do what I wanted to do. What I did find out...I want to take from the lady that owns the art studio...lots of flowers and vases. I'm not a big fan of a teacher that is more interested in painting on their own picture then helping...just saying
