Vintage Enamel Plate

Here's what I did to a vintage enamel plate. I love the blue edging. I left the little chippy showing.
I made little tubes for flower seeds out of copied vintage French music. I've had this little glass creamer for years, now I feel like I have put it to good use. How cute would it be to put a real bouquet of flowers in the creamer.
I drilled (with my new dremel)holes in the plate to attach an old key and also to make a hanger on the back
I made the charm to hang from the key adding glimmer mist colors to the paper.
I then painted the quote on the rim and painted the Hydrangea and rose...adding the cutest little bumble bee. I just put this on my Ebay.

Vintage Copper

I found another piece of copper, isn't this one beautiful!! I love the trim around it...and the handles...ooooh, what to do with this!!? I also got a ladle...ummm, how would THAT look on this?? I found this lovely Emily Post book. Next time I post, I will try to give you a little info. on common mistakes in etiquette, from 1939...oh how far we have come!! Also inside this book was a stack of old newspaper clippings of Emily Post...they are wonderful...I need to figure out something to do with them. I had more photos to show you, but blogger is misbehaving today.
The patina is so beautiful. I wanted to show you an old key that I have been playing around with, It was to bright, so I rusted it...so neat! Now I have a silver sugar bowl that I am trying to give a a blue-ish patina to...oh, and I wanted to show you my new tools. Please check back for more show and tell.

Blue Bird~Blackboard~Baby Shoe

Isnt this a beautiful design on this spoon
I've been busy, here is another little plate that I painted with chalkboard paint,
then added a nest with 3 little robin eggs and vine with sweet little berries and leaves,
I added a touch of metallic paint to the branches.
This little blue bird on the spoon is one that was featured in the Somerset Life mag.
Here is the other little shoe (the other shoe is on the copper plate) I wanted to paint and then age this sweet shoe. I used Glimmer Mist then metallic paints, a touch of pearl. Can you see the little soft polka a dots?? I painted a little rose on the toe of the shoe, I dyed the silk ribbons, I wanted the one around her neck to pull out the color in the rose.
I have just listed all these goodies on my EBAY

Winners & Copper

This is what it all started with. I'm at the Goodwill with Stacey and I came across this BEAUTIFUL tray. Now, Stacey laughed and said...you know, I cant believe they didn't throw this away!!..I in return said...oh no! It's so beautiful! Laughing I said "Its coming home with me!"
I didn't know what I was going to do with it, but I was excited...so I laid it down and we started picking out different things and sitting them next to it wondering how we could make this all come together.
I needed a way to hang it. Stacey suggested attaching this little hanger, so I drilled two holes with my new toy...(I got a cordless lithium ion dremal... I love it!) I typed "nest" on the center paper of the hanger. I also drilled holes to hold the little jar, that Stacey picked out. It was so much fun having her work with me on this. I attached the old lace so it could be untied to take off the bottle to fill with water for real flowers, It would also be sweet holding vintage flowers. I used some Omni gel to transfer the words "flowers for all seasons" onto the bottle The necklace was a little pearl bracelet that I aged.
I bent some old black wire, added sweet vintage buttons. I also soldered a copper wire to the back of the charm which is holding my painted nest. The tag is a vintage one, I added a little button and attached the description "nest" from an old dictionary. The old rusty bell on the shoe is original to be shoes, how cute is that! I added coppery colored glittered pins and more old buttons to the pincushion. Please check out my EBAY listing
Now for the winners. I do want to THANK YOU for coming over to visit and leaving a message. I met a lot of "new to me" bloggers.

Green for the day

Just put this beauty on my ebay. The vintage flower is at a bad angle, guess I should take another photo. lol Isnt that a beautiful green silk ribbon!
Well, I am now a certified Copic user. lol. Do I give you the pros and cons or do I just give you my opinion of the Copics? Or do I tell you what the overall class thought? Just what do I tell you about them? Basically, they're not for me. I did love the air gun contraption...but $200 for a little compressor and $6 for ONE color...a little expensive. I did take my wool to see how it would work with the air gun...it did work...but I really prefer dunking my wool in colored dye and working with the color. I thought maybe it would work for my birdies checks, it sprayed to large of an area...oh well, it was good to learn.
Tomorrow is a watercolor class where I get to just paint chocolates all day...now that will be heaven. I will do some small ones to put into glass charms.

Thrusdays Treasures

Oh my...I didn't realize I gotten so many goodies, until I got them home and out of their bags. Another pair of baby shoes, silver tray, Limoge cup and saucer, little jar of old white buttons, clear hobnail sugar bow, sweet cream pitcher. Oh and the tin snips...I needed a pair of tin snips for a class I'm going to be taking. All the new tin snips have a serrated edge I want smooth...so my hubby and I went into a pawn shop and the owner had these for $6. He even brought out a piece of tin for me to cut...I love them, they have so much more charm then the new ones...quite frankly, its my favorite find of the day.

My blog has a wonderful new look thanks to my new friend. Erin / The Vintage Pearl
Please take a look at the charms and jewelery she makes... beautiful.

I'm off for the next couple of days...tomorrow I'm taking a Copic Certification class. That should be so much fun...playing with markers all day! Then on Sat. I get to go play with my watercolors and paint yummy chocolates...will she have samples of the Real stuff??I'll let you know.lol.
On Sunday morning I'm going to start on a giveaway...maybe a watercolor chocolate...maybe one of my paper flowers...Please come back on Sunday and check it out!!

Silver Plate Chalkboard

Out in the country of Oregon, spring is on its way...a little slow, but on its way. Please go look here The Ferrier's Daughter to see more wonderful photos.
Heres a little silver plate that I painted with chalk board paint then painted a little nest. It going on my Ebay. The little bear I made in my "bear making" stage of life. How cute is this tiny little grungy silk shirt with the torn pocket. They sewed the snaps on with different colored threads. I just love it. It is filled with buckshot...a very heavy bottom!!
I highlighted with my metallic paints to give a little extra glimmer. It goes so well with the patina on the plate.

My dear friend Vicki had one of these on her blog, please go check it out, she tells how she made it. So this is my take on it...I sprayed mine with glimmer mist and put ink on the edges.

Spoons and Schooners

Becca of Bluebirds androses
has a picture on her blog of an old schooner. I thought it was the one I painted this from, must be from the same time period. Anyway, I painted this with oil paints while I was pregnant and bored, about 27 years ago. I gave it to my husbands boss at the time. The family gave it back after he passed away.
Sweet little twosome here, they also are from the Somerset Mag article...I feel like I'm "name dropping" every time I say it. lol!! Check this out on my Ebay
Look at the beautiful handle..I haven't been able to tell what letter it is. From the tip of the pink birdies tail to the tip of the handle its a whopping 10" long. The one on the right is a pale mint green.
If you have a chance, my niece, Lindsey just start her own blog, she wants to open up a shop...go check out the the barn that will be transformed. I'm sure she would like for you to stop by and say Hi and welcome her to the land of bloggin.

Spring is right around the corner!!

In honor of spring...I painted this darling metal flowers. I just had to paint a few dew drops (or rain drops, in our case, living in Oregon) on the leaves and petals.
How sweet does she look sitting on top of this pincusion! Just put on my Ebay
This is a 4X5 inch little canvas that I textured. I then made Robins Egg Blue by mixing about 5 colors together.
After painting the nest I added layers and layers of glazes using different metallic paints.
I turned it so you could see the shine.
I sent these pictures to sweet Jenn and Jacqui, they called first dibbies...
remember as a kid calling first dibbies to get to ride in the front seat of the car??

Isnt this the cutest little box, I'll tell you..It was UGLY when I got it..It was just a hand made box, but these drawers OH MY, they grabbed me!! The color is just what you see in the photo, with a little gold. So it took a bit of work and layers to get the box to match..I was going to sell it, but you know how it goes...I'm going to have to wait until something else comes along to take its place.lol My little birdie on the left is a work in progress. The one on top is one I sent to Somerset Mag. I'll be putting it out for sell real soon. The one on the right just sold. I'm going to try to get my cupcake charms put on etsy tomorrow...wish me luck.lol.

Baby Shoe

OOOOh am I ever having fun. I wanted to get back into soldering, but I wanted to do something that was different, something I really havent seen in blog land...here is my take on the charms...I painted the cupcakes on watercolor paper and framed them. The "big" ones are 1 1/2 square and that tiny one...1" square. I did use the spica glitter pens, they add just the hint of sparkle that I like. I think these would be good to put on my etsy, which I have set up, but haven't used.Let me know what you think. I plan to painting chocolate truffles, cherries...I would love to hear some idea's. Oh, I have painted a birds nest and eggs, thought I would put that in a charm...
Oh the morning sun was shining through my window! Here is another sweet baby shoe...it doesnt really show, but I spritzed it with gilmmer mist, there is the softest hint of antique pink glimmer.
see the hint of glimmer on the toe area...not really? lol

This little guy is on Ebay
I decided it was time...I gathered all my tools and gadgets. Went and bought a tile to put it all on and now I have a soldering station. I found this clip in the paint department at Home Depot it is perfect for holding up the glass for soldering. My soldering iron is about 20 years old. A bit of crud on the tip. I got it cleaned up, still isnt staying hot on the tip, so I plan to get another, anybody have any idea what kind I should get? I would love to hear what is being used out there. No one mentioned my ooops...got my banner just a bit big, dont you think. LOL!!
