A little Thrifting

I picked up all these little bits of goodies, a booklet to alter...It was my day off...and I still got 100 on my monthly report...lol. I absolutely hate that I get "graded" for the job that I do. I understand why they do it, but it still doesn't seem "right".lol Look at this sweet silver spoon!!! I love the mother of pearl leaves. There is a pewter cup and saucer, brass clock winder and I dont know what that other thing is...anybody know?
Jan, of Jan and Tom redid an item using Rub 'n Buff..It has been years since I have used that stuff. So I picked this up yesterday for $1.50 (hope I didn't pay to much lol) I have it finished, but I have to wait until it gets lighter outside before I can get a good photo.
An old wicker tray...I was thinking of spraying it white, then painting roses, or painting it black...but I think I'm going to leave it natural and decoupage copies of vintage postcards...what do you think...this was half price...a 1.00
Then there was this cute old hobnail "vase" not sure what I will do with it just yet...but for .65 I couldn't leave it behind. I think I spent 6.00 for everything, at 3 different stores. Again...Happy New Years to all my wonderful friends that I have met this last year through blogging!!!

Totally cool stuff!! What about making the hobnail vase a fairy lite with a little LED bulb?? You know kinda like the ones Debbee Thibault makes for Earth Angels :) I remember using rub and buff years ago, I don't think I've seen it here must ferret that out. If not must use my persuasive powers to get a "Mule" to ferry it down ;)

Have a wonderful New Years eve and day if I don't get to tell you again little Sis!!

You're not going to believe this but...I have one of those unknown things too! It looks exactly like that. I found it in a tupperware container full of every kind of little thing you can imagine (screws, stick pins, bolts, safety pins, buttons, nails, phone jacks). I bought it mainly for the green tupperware! Let me know if you identify it!!

Have a wonderful New Year's Eve, and best wishes for 2009!

The little hobnail is so cute why not just put a few roses in it and tie a little ribbon around the neck. Everybody's got an opinion, right? Enjoyed your blog.

What fun stuff! The little spoon is a real treasure. Not sure what the other little goodie is - a curiosity!
It's begging for a painting on it!

Can definitely see anything you do on the tray looking good, Laurie.

I have the answer! Your mystery object looked to me like a "guy thing" so I grabbed my husband, who took one look and said, "Oh, that's a spark plug gapper." He went on to explain me how it works but none of that went into my brain. ;o)

I did a google image search and sure enough, that's what it it. You have a vintage spark plug gapper, you lucky thing!

I have GOT to go 'junkin' with you...I just don't see the potential in items the way you do. Of course, even if I did, I wouldn't know how to accomplish anything...but, I could give it to you and you could 'work your magic'! I'm liking this idea more and more.

Happy, happy 2009!
